Just a thought.
If you're like me and are one of the lucky ones whose Mediafire account still exists, why not save all the links in a file (see example below). From all indications, the files themselves are not lost - just the account with its catalog of links. If you save your links while you still can, losing the account part might not be quite so bad. Anyways, here is an example of what I mean. Feel free to download anything should you feel the urge.

Oh, I did have to do all that by hand. No fancy program to make life easy... sorry. Just cut and paste, cut and paste, cut and paste, etc. ad infinitum. _________________ -Douglas

Doug...yeah, but even if you do save those links, don't they still refer back to what's in your account? If those files disappear, somehow...courtesy of MediaFire...would the links work then? I guess the motto, in this case, is "Get 'em while they're hot" _________________ Gil |

Well, for example, Pasi seems to have lost his account, but all of the individual links he posted in my Star Wars thread over at 154 (over 6 months ago) seem to work.
EDIT: As if to spite me, all the files stopped working today. Great.....
Guess you're right. _________________ -Douglas

Doug....yeah...I just tried several, from your list...they all say "The link could not be saved". Geesh! Well...that possibility lasted about 2 seconds! Thanks, MediaFire! _________________ Gil |

If you've read the Night Beat post, you'll know that I've lost my MediaFire account and all my links.
If the links still worked, wouldn't the Night Beat link I posted yesterday still go through?
I've sent a very nice ( ) note to MediaFire asking them where my files are.
I expect to hear back from them.....never! (add sarcasm and emphasis on the never)

dkanner ~
I just tried your links and they are magically working.
Now, if they'd just do that for mine...
My account had very little traffic, was just a holding site for uploads and moving stuff over from other peoples MF accounts that I hadn't gotten around to downloading.
So, amount of traffic has nothing to do with it! _________________ .

I lost access to my Mediafire account today. I hope it is just the temporary result of upgrades that are going on behind the scenes, but I'm doubtful. I know others lost access quite some time ago. I guess at this point ,the only way to keep sharing files is to diversify and load files onto more just one or two sites. Heck, I'm even giving MM another try after months of solemn promises NEVER to so near MadMax ever again.

| I was just wondering with the problems everyones had with Media Mess and Mediafire, has anyone started to use internet archive. I gave it a try months ago It didn't seem as user friendly. has anyone heard of any missing files on IA? I may try uploading my material there in hopes that they may last. |

I did have everything that I'd uploaded to my MF account stored in another account . . within 48 hours, they both vanished!
