Is there a problem with Internet Archive? I've had trouble for the past couple of days with anything other than accessing links on the front page.

Easy Ace's Channel Surfing posts mostly come from IA and they download fine but if I go there looking for something I can't seem to open up any pages other than the top page.

Just curious if it's me or what.

hangman,

I had the same problem yesterday. Thought it was just me. The 'front page' was fine, but the more specific individual file page was an error page.

Hope they get it worked out.

I'm confident that they will . . they've had hiccups on occasion . . besides, this is the archive we are talking about . . not MediaFire or MediaMax . . .

I've been experiencing the same problems. But unlike MM or Mediafire, I have every confidence that they will get the problems resolved.

Ditto.

I occasionally get hiccups there but they work it out. My patience, though, takes a drubbing. Time for 12-step....

Whenever I have something for "Channel Surfing" that's in my own computer already, I've begun loading it up to DivShare, since the IA problem began, and if I can find other sources I'll use those until the hiccup is cupped. I noticed it the first time two days ago. I hope they get the hiccups wrung out soon, too---I've still got a boatload of OTR to get into my own collection!

Over the last few months they have acknowledged they have been having problems. They have even posted when they would be down at times. I think it might have something to do with growing pains. Still on the whole they are usually reliable.

I'm thinking that they're in trouble with the BBC on several shows that some people were trying to sneak in...

I've always wondered what type of group was behind this site. It seems like it would need funding of some sort to keep up the service they provide.

Only details I've seen are from a newspaper story they link to...

In May, California officially recognized the Internet Archive, established in 1996, as a library. The designation makes the online archive eligible to apply for several federal grant programs that are administered by the state of California.

That makes a lot of sense. They seem like a library of historical sounds to me...glad they are recognized for what they really are.

I just tried to get past the main OTR page and when I clicked on one of the letters I got the same message as I've had the last several tries in the last several days: "The search engine encountered the following error: Search engine returned invalid information or was unresponsive. We are working to resolve this issue. Thanks for your patience."

Ditto.
The links are working on the front page, but if I'm searching for something, you're pretty much out of luck.
